[A couple minutes later, he strode through the doorway, his coat already in his arms instead of on him. He crouched to where Anemone was laying on the cold floor and dropped the coat over her shoulders. Then he sat next to her with a scowl on his face..]

Tch. It's warm enough, but you're better off on the damn sofa. Or whatever.

[She only listened when he came in, not turning to face him until she felt his coat. Slowly, she turned her head around, frowning sadly. That scowl on his face didn't make it better; in fact, her eyes were already starting to tear up.]

[Some unease crept into his tone and expression. He didn't come over here to make it worse (though it was just his pattern, wasn't it?) He put an awkward and hesitant hand on her head--for a second, at least.]

[She nodded quietly, biting her bottom lip. Crying just seemed so easy for the past few days; she had been doing a lot of that, after all.]

[She sniffled, looking up at him once more before burying her face in the jacket. She couldn't stop herself; she was crying again.]

[Sniffling, Anemone tried to keep herself from crying too hard. After all, there wasn't much point to it. Shinji was being nice, and now he was putting up with her. It only took her a moment or two before she managed to quiet herself to sniffles, wiping her eyes roughly.]

I-if you d-don't want... dust on your coat... y-you don't put it on the floor...

[She was half tempted to push the bottom of the coat into dust bunnies. He could always take it back; she didn't plan on moving unless forced.]
